Tallow skincare in Black Mountain, NC

Black Mountain sits just east of Asheville, a short hop from our Fletcher stove. Grass-fed tallow balm, rendered slow and small-batch, headed a few ridges east.

Made right near Black Mountain

Black Mountain is a walkable little arts town under the Seven Sisters range, home to Montreat and the old Black Mountain College legacy — a place that has always valued craft and the handmade. Our tallow keeps good company there: made by hand, made close by, from a short and honest ingredient list.

Why grass-fed tallow

Grass-fed matters because a fat carries what the animal ate. Suet from grass-fed cattle renders cleaner and milder than grain-fed — it’s the difference you feel on skin.

Tallow Skincare in Black Mountain — FAQ

Where can I buy tallow balm in Black Mountain?

Direct from our kitchen — we're online-only, no stores yet. Join the waitlist on the main site and your jar ships from Fletcher, North Carolina to Black Mountain, North Carolina when the batch is ready.

Does Mr. & Mrs. Tallow ship to Black Mountain, NC?

Yes. We ship grass-fed tallow balm to Black Mountain, North Carolina and across the United States. Every jar is rendered and jarred by hand in Fletcher, North Carolina.

Is tallow good for skin in Black Mountain?

It's our own climate — humid mountain summers, dry crisp winters, drying elevation — and we render specifically for it. Patch-test to start, as with anything.

What is tallow skincare?

Tallow is rendered beef fat. Its fatty-acid profile — mostly oleic, stearic, and palmitic — is close to the oils skin makes on its own, so it absorbs rather than sitting on top. Grass-fed tallow also carries the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.

What is the difference between a tallow balm and lotion?

Most lotions are mostly water, held together with emulsifiers and preserved to stay shelf-stable. A tallow balm skips the water entirely — just rendered grass-fed fat, whipped soft — so a little goes further and the ingredient list stays short.

What is the difference between the His and Hers tallow balm?

Both use the same grass-fed tallow base. His is heavier and barely scented; Hers is whipped lighter and softened with a little honey.

How long does a jar of tallow balm last?

Longer than it looks. A pea-sized amount covers a whole face, so most people find one jar lasts a good while even with daily use.
